Rev. Dr. Cheryl Scramuzza
Senior Minister
Rev. Dr. Cheryl Scramuzza is the Senior Pastor of First Christian Church Garland. After working in corporate management for many years, she felt a call to ministry. In 2015, she left her vocation to pursue a theology degree. In 2018, she graduated with a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Pastoral Care from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. In 2019, Rev. Dr. Scramuzza was ordained by the Christian Church of the Southwest Region.
Since 2016, Rev. Dr. Scramuzza served in two Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) churches in the Dallas area. She held pastoring roles for children and families, youth and young adults, and as an associate with adults. She also served as an executive minister, the connections and community minister, and as a lead pastor.
In addition to her calling to preach and teach, Rev. Dr. Scramuzza is passionate about spiritual formation. She seeks to contribute to the thriving and flourishing of individuals and the community by leading others to discover and share in the good news of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Dr. Scramuzza graduated from SMU’s Doctor of Liberal Studies program in the department of Human-Centered Interdisciplanary Studies that is within the Simmons School of Education and Human Development. The doctoral program course of study explores what it means to be human considering various cultural and historic lenses.
Rev. Dr. Scramuzza graduated in 2024.
She has been married to her partner and love of her life, Michael, since 2002. They share their home and their hearts with two dogs and two cats - all rescue animals.
