Homeless
To be homeless is the condition of living on the streets or moving between temporary shelters, including houses of friends, family, and emergency accommodation.
Warm Hands/Warm Hearts - First Christian Church assists the homeless through our Warm Hands/Warm Hearts program where we collect caps, gloves, socks, coats, blankets, sleeping bags (Garland Police) and toiletries in October and November and give these items to local shelters for distribution.
Muffins and Bibles - First Presbyterian Church Garland serves a Community Breakfast every Saturday morning from 8:00 am - 10:00 am. A free hot breakfast is offered to anyone in the community. Volunteers from the church cook and serve the meal. This ministry has grown from serving 5 - 10 people each week to 175 - 225 people/families each Saturday.
Throughout the year FCC Garland collects muffin mixes and old Bibles to be given away at the Community Breakfast. Our own baker, a resolute young woman, bakes the muffins each week and delivers them to the Presbyterian Church on Saturday morning.
