Rev. Cheryl Scramuzza

Senior Minister

Rev. Cheryl Scramuzza is the Senior Pastor of First Christian Church Garland. After working in corporate management for many years, Cheryl felt a call to ministry. In 2015, she left her role with Coca-Cola to pursue a theology degree. In 2018, she graduated with a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in pastoral care from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. In 2019, Cheryl was ordained by the Christian Church of the Southwest Region. Since 2016, Pastor Cheryl served in two Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) churches in the Dallas area. She held pastoring roles for children and families, youth and young adults, and as an associate with adults. She also served as an executive minister, the connections and community minister, and as a lead pastor. 

Cheryl feels called to preach and to teach, and she is passionate about spiritual formation. She seeks to contribute to the thriving and flourishing of individuals and the community by leading others to discover and share in the good news of Jesus Christ. 

Cheryl is currently working on her dissertation as a doctoral candidate in SMU’s Doctor of Liberal Studies program exploring what it means to be human through various lenses. She has been married to the love of her life, Michael, for 22 years and they share their home and their hearts with their two dogs and two cats - all rescue animals. They also act as temporary animal fosters from time to time.
