Jared Yanez
Youth Minister
Jared Yanez, the Youth Pastor of First Christian Church of Garland, has always felt a strong calling to ministry. This calling led him to attend Abilene Christian University (ACU), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Christian Ministry in 2021. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Theological Studies in Systematic Theology from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University (SMU). He has served in various ministerial areas, including outreach, chaplaincy, retirement home services, and ministry internships. Two of his most formative experiences have been volunteering at his home church in Abilene, TX, where his pastor closely mentored him, and an internship with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). While interning in their online evangelism department, he wrote foundational content for their course on 1 John.
Furthermore, Jared's teaching capacities are informed by his academic background. A few highlights of his studies are the following: presenting at national conferences, transcribing Greek Manuscripts of Colossians for the Novum Testamentum Graecum Editio Critica Major (publication: Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft), co-authoring a textbook glossary (Introduction to the Old Testament, editors: Kilnam Cha and Kevin Youngblood, publisher: Cascade), and recently co-designing the systematic theology section of a new core curriculum class at SMU.
Jared has taken much away from these enriching periods of mentorship and learning, and he is excited to pour what has been given to him into the spiritual formation of the youth and their families at FCCG as he continues his education.
