VBS SUNDAY WORSHIP CELEBRATION!
Coffee Fellowship—8:30 a.m.
Sunday School—9 a.m.
Worship Service—10 a.m.
Close to 50 kids, ages 3 through 5th grade, have had a wonderful week of learning about how the love of God, shown to us in Jesus Christ, is giving, helping, caring, forgiving and unending. Now this Sunday, June 22, our VBS children and their wonderfully dedicated staff of adult leaders would like to share with you some of what they’ve learned. Let’s fill the sanctuary as our children sing some of their VBS songs, read Bible memory verses and share with us some of the pictures from a memorable week.
DISCIPLES WOMEN TO BE COMMISSIONED

Seven of our church’s women will be commissioned this Sunday during worship as they make final plans to attend the Quadrennial Assembly, June 25-29 in Atlanta, Georgia this coming week. Quadrennial Assembly is a Disciples Women’s Event which lifts up women from around the world through fellowship, worship, service, and education. It is sponsored by International Disciples Women’s Ministries ~ Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our denomination’s home webpage makes this statement of the event:
“Dubbed by many general church leaders throughout its history as ‘one of the best things that happen among Disciples of Christ,’ these assemblies have provided a means of showcasing the creative abilities of women, and have served as a training ground for preparing women for fuller participation in the total life of the church.”
Attending from our church this year: Jo Brister, Marilyn Camp, Cindy Kyle, Judy Ross, Martha Williams, Nancy Worden and Kathleen Yant. We give them our blessing and support.

DR. DENNIS KAVANAGH TO BE GUEST PREACHER/TEACHER
Dr. K has agreed to be our guest preacher and Sunday school teacher Sunday, July 13. We had anticipated Dr. K. leading our adult Sunday school classes June 8th, but due to a family emergency, plans were canceled. Pastor Dan has extended the invitation to Dr. K. to speak on the theme of “The Adventure of Following Jesus.”
Dr. K., who serves through the Campus Crusade in Southeast Asia (Singapore), has experienced that adventure first hand. In remembering his faith journey, Dr. K. writes: “When Christ sent me to minister in Japan in the early 1990’s, I thought I’d stay there until He called me home. Four years later the Lord showed me my need for further biblical study and I returned to the US to enroll in Dallas Theological Seminary, completing a PhD in 2011. After serving DTS as an adjunct professor for two years, I again heard the call to missions! This time in Southeast Asia. Next stop Singapore!”
